Range one of – zinc, aluminium, alloy. Evidence requirements 1.1 Metal spray protective coating material is identified and confirmed in accordance with job specifications. 1.2 Personal protective equipment for metal spraying is selected and worn in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and company procedures. 1.3 Metal spray equipment is prepared in accordance with metal spray manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures. Range equipment – thermal arc spray or flame spray. 1.4 Items and areas not to be coated are masked prior to metal spraying in accordance with job specifications. 1.5 The substrate surface is prepared prior to the application of metal spray in accordance with job specifications, manufacturer’s instructions, and company procedures. Outcome 2 Apply a metal spray protective coating under supervision. Range one of – zinc, aluminium, alloy. Evidence requirements 2.1 Metal spray protective coating is applied under supervision in accordance with job specifications. 2.2 The coating thickness is checked during application using a thickness gauge in accordance with company procedures. Outcome 3 Maintain metal spray equipment. Evidence requirements 3.1 Metal spray equipment is checked for safe operating condition, and is repaired and/or reported in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures. 3.2 Metal spray equipment is cleaned, shut down, and stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures.
