People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare endof-life motor vehicles for scrap metal recycling. Classification Resource Recovery > Scrap Metal Recycling Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Hazard controls, safety procedures, and personal protective equipment must be used in accordance with company procedures. 2 Definitions - Company procedures mean the documented methods for performing work activities and include health and safety, environmental, and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. - LPG refers to liquefied petroleum gas. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare end-of-life motor vehicles for scrap metal recycling. Evidence requirements 1.1 Fuel, lubricants, and other liquids are removed from vehicle and stored in designated containers in accordance with company procedures. Range 1.2 fuel may include but is not limited to – petrol, diesel, LPG; other liquids may include but are not limited to – coolants, radiator fluid; evidence is required for two fuels and one other liquid. Battery is removed from vehicle and secured in designated area in accordance company procedures.
