Campus Recreation Student Advisory Board (CRSAB) Minutes of November 8, 2012 Meeting Board Members in Attendance: Amber Drake, CRD Ryan Fetzer, CRD Ernest Luong, CRD Ahmina James, CRD Brandon Wolucka, CRD Monica DeLeon, KSA Justin Orozco, SCC Board Members Absent: Shibin Tharayil, SHAC Carly Matsukuma, KSA Will Carruthers, HHN RHA Representative Lauren Yapo, KSA Angela Cooperman,GFSC Guests: Tina Rossi Chanda Jensen Venice Adams Joseph Greenwell, DOS Meeting called to order at 10:10 am. Meeting opened with a brief introduction of members and what student organizations they are representing. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and there were no changes to report. Minutes were approved unanimously by all. Area Reports The Fitness/Wellness & Aquatics Coordinator informed us that there is a new posting for lifeguards and Group X instructors. There will be a modified schedule for Group X during Thanksgiving break and finals week. There is one more upcoming wellness workshop. There was also a survey done on the aqua exercise class. Lastly, the sports and fitness showcase was a success. The Intramural and Sport Clubs Coordinator reported that all intramural leagues are sunning smoothly and about to start playoffs. Intramural tennis has already started playoffs. The costume dodgeball tournament had 12 teams participate and had 185 people in attendance. It was a success and a great atmosphere. On the sports club side, there are two new clubs joining next semester: Disc golf and Swim. Both clubs are preparing for a spring season. Chanda Jensen reported that all is going well for the Facilities and Informal Recreation area. Participation numbers are back up, as there was a dip in attendance, probably due to mid-terms and Giants World Series games. Campus Recreation held the Summer Facilities meeting on Friday, November 2nd. Representatives from Kinesiology Department and the Athletics Department were present at the meeting. At the meeting, coaches and camp directors were provided a copy of the summer schedule which highlighted any outstanding conflicts. The Summer schedule will be finalized by the end of this month. There has been two events hosted by student organizations so far this semester. They included: 1|Page a) The Residence Hall Association hosted a Vaolleyball Tournament on 10/20/2012 b) b) Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity hosted a Self-Defense Workshop on 11/7/2012 There are still 3 more student events to be hosted inside the gym this semester. For the marketing update, we are starting to wind down for the semester. We just finished the flyer for the last Wellness Workshop of the fall semester. We are working on footage for our department video which will be completed in the spring. Additionally, we on the DOS Marketing Committee and have been meeting once a month to collaborate on ideas and our mission statement for the group. Committee Selection and Updates The Administration committee has been offline for a while but will be in charge reviewing applications for the Paula Moran Scholarship. Anne showed interest in this committee. This committee will meet soon to review the NIRSA scholarship applications. The Recreation and Wellness Center committee works with the Associated Student Body and The Caesar Chavez Student Center. They have been meeting with architects to put the design together for the new center. The draft of the Rec and Wellness Center is up online for all to view. Informational Topics Reports on the Director Search – The Search Committee has met several times over the last few weeks to review candidates who have applied to the position. This week the Search Committee is conducting phone interviews. There is a tentative schedule to have the top three candidates come onto campus the week of November 26th – 30th for in person interviews. There will be a block of time set aside for students to meet the candidates. ASI Retreat – The CRSAB board is invited to this retreat held on December 8th. They will be discussing the Rec and Wellness Center’s operation models. More information regarding this retreat will be forthcoming. OrgSync – Please join the portal for CRSAB. Clubs can post events on the website. Outdoor Intramural League Fee – It was agreed upon by the Board that there will be a charge for each team of about $25-$30 for an outdoor intramural league fee. The cost will go toward the maintenance of the field, equipment, and referees. Next meeting will be held on the December 13 at 10:00 am in SSB 404. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am.
