Campus Recreation Student Advisory Board (CRSAB) Minutes of December 13th, 2012 Meeting Board Members in Attendance: Amber Drake, CRD Ryan Fetzer, CRD Justin Orozco, SCC Brandon Wolucka, CRD Shibin Tharayil, SHAC Anne Bricca, RPT Board Members Absent: Ernest Luong, CRD Carly Matsukuma, KSA Will Carruthers, HHN Monica DeLeon, KSA RHA Representative Lauren Yapo, KSA Angela Cooperman, GFSC Guests: Tina Rossi Chanda Jensen Venice Adams Meeting called to order at 10:10 am. Meeting opened with a brief introduction of members, student organizations they are representing, and any plans for the holiday break. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and there were no changes to report. Minutes were approved unanimously by all. Area Reports The Fitness/Wellness & Aquatics Coordinator informed us Monday December 17th will be the last day for locker clean out. The women’s locker room will be open until 2pm that day for clean out. The group x and aquatics modified schedule is out for finals week. The modified schedule for the winter will be out soon. She also completed teaching a First AID and CPR class for managers and building supervisors. The Intramural and Sport Clubs Coordinator reported that the last of the intramural sports wrapped up last night (Dec 12th). They gave out 140 championship t-shirts to students of 1st place teams. The faculty/staff bowling league ended on December 5th and there will be a potluck for those who participated on Monday December 17th. Spring intramural planning is underway. The outdoor recreation fields will be open in March, which will allow the start of outdoor soccer and flag football. There will be a $30 fee for these two outdoor sports and a $10 fee for tennis since it is a smaller scale outdoor sport. All fees go to providing equipment for these sports. There was a discussion on whether an all men’s flag football league would get too physical. Further research on other neighboring campus’ flag football league will be done to see whether it is a good idea to have an all men’s league or keep it an open league. Sports Clubs are ending this week and are working on their respective schedules for next semester. There will be one new sport club starting next semester, which is a combination of Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf. The Facilities and Informal Recreation Coordinator reported that the indoor soccer survey has been completed and will give valuable feedback on how to run informal outdoor recreation for next semester. There will be 1|Page informal recreation during the winter break. The weight room and open gym basketball will be running from 12-1pm during January 2nd –January 18th. . For the marketing update, there is a new link on the Campus Recreation website that directs you to a student life calendar. There is also a wellness night to prepare for finals. There will be yoga and hip hop/belly dance. Committee Updates Administrative – Shibin, Justin, and Anne volunteered to look over NIRSA Scholarship applications. The conference will be held in Las Vegas from March 4th-7th 2013. Rec and Wellness Center – They have not met recently. They are still 75% complete with the design process and will hopefully be completely done by January. Informational Topics Reports on the Director Search – The Search Committee, Campus Recreation student and Staff have met up with the final three candidates the last couple of weeks. They all gave their strengths and weaknesses of each candidate to the Dean of Students. The position should be filled by January and we should have a new director of Campus Recreation by the start of the spring semester. Make sure to have representatives for the CRSAB from your respective organizations for the spring semester The spring meetings will be scheduled for February 14th, March 14th, April 11th, and May 9th at 10 am. The president’s investiture will be held from March 9th-15th. There will be four key activities: 1. March 9th – Community Service Day 2. March 10th – 5k Walk/Run 3. March 14th – 2-4pm Presidents Investiture Day 4. March 15th – Late night dance party with the president Anne also brought up that recreation students need internship hours for classes in the spring semester.
