Summary
The review of the unit standard 428 was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory
review of qualifications, specifically the listing of:
 New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Experiences (Level 3) [Ref: 2570]
 New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Experiences (Level 4) [Ref: 2571].
New unit standards were created and current unit standard 428 was reviewed to ensure
that it is fit for purpose, relevant and aligned with outcomes listed in the new qualifications.
Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and
used to guide the development of the industry training programme and the development
and review of the associated unit standards.
Main changes
The standard has been updated to reflect current industry practice which has led to minor
changes within explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements and range
statements. The title and credits of the standard have been amended to take account of
these changes.
The standard has moved from the Tramping domain to the Outdoor Experiences domain.
