For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, April 28, 2004 (NOTE: Stormer and Dunmeyer, as well as Thomlinson and Hodgson, are all Lawton residents.) CU English majors present papers at convention; two faculty named to fill positions with OCTE Cameron senior English majors Kimberly Stormer and Wendy Dunmeyer presented papers at the annual Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English (OCTE) convention at Oklahoma City University earlier this month. Stormer's paper, “Declaring One's Blackness” examined the rhetorical strategies of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois, while Dunmeyer's paper addressed the influence of Dorothy Wordsworth's journal entries upon her poet brother, William, especially in connection with his famous poem, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.” In addition to presenting for the College English section, Dunmeyer was selected as Cameron’s recipient of the Geraldine Burns Scholarship, which recognizes the outstanding English major from each university across the state. In council business, CU associate English professor Vivian Thomlinson was re-elected as chair of the College Section of the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English for 2004-05.
