Contest Procedures
A. Organization: Global Federation of Chinese Business Women in Southern USA
B. Objectives:
Motivate interest in learning Chinese language, improve Chinese speaking
ability, and promote Chinese language learning environment.
C. Contest Date: April 23, 2016 (Saturday)
D. Check–in:
11:30 A.M.
After check-in, please report to the classroom and sit according to the seat
assignment for rules and procedures of the contest
E. Contest Time: Begins at 12P.M.
Awards ceremony will follow right after the contest.

G. Eligibility:
Anyone who is attending Chinese school or taking Chinese classes at the
State schools, or having interest in learning Chinese language. Applicant
must be at least six years old by April 23, 2016 to be eligible to compete.
Applicant must never attend any Chinese primary schools in Asia for
more than a year. Please note that any dishonesty could face disqualification.
H. Groups:
Chinese children – one of the parents is ethnic Chinese
1. Ethnic Chinese Age 6-7
2. Ethnic Chinese Age 8-9
3. Ethnic Chinese Age 10-14
4. Ethnic Chinese Age 15-18
Both parents are non-Chinese:
5. Non-Chinese: Age 6-7
6. Non -Chinese: Age 8-14
7. Non -Chinese: Age 15-18
8. Non -Chinese: Age 19 and up
I. Time Limit:
Everyone has 2 &1/2 to 3 minutes to speak
Scores will be deducted either exceeding the upper limit or less than the
required speech time.
J. Criteria:
Speech will be scored according to the content, pronunciation (phonetics),
intonation (accentuation), and expression (style). Each criteria constitutes
25% of the total score.
K. Awards:
Each group will have one winner, one 2nd place and one 3rd place. Also,
“honorable mention” award will be given to 1/4 of contestants in the group.
L. Incentives:
All contestants will receive a trophy and a T-shirt. In addition, all winners
and “honorable mention” will be awarded with a certificate of achievement
plus the followings
1st Place: Winner Trophy and $100 cash
2nd Place: 2nd Place Trophy and $75 cash
3rd Place: 3rd Place Trophy and $50 cash
Honorable Mentions: Medal and a prize
