Discussion Items Merril Simon reviewed the Educational Policies Committee (EPC) policy in which active courses will be removed from the printed University Catalog if they have not been offered in five years and courses that have not been offered in ten years must go through an EPC reactivation process. Simon asked the committee if they would consider implementing the same policy. The committee discussed potential issues with the policy and requested clarification from the EPC before they vote to implement the policy. The discussion item has been tabled until Fall 2012. Simon examined the data she received from IR in relation to the GWAR. She reported that the data included GRE scores and WPE scores but not percentile scores. She stated that the data indicates that the problem with the WPE was not that students did not pass the exam, but the degree of difficulty in accessing the test, which is required to become classified. The GSC and the associate deans agreed to create a university policy for meeting the GWAR, but departments may have higher standards that take precedence over the university policy. Simon, Richard Moore, and Mary-Pat Stein volunteered to work on a draft policy proposal in order to continue the discussion in Fall 2012. VI. Program Reviews Merril Simon attended the English program review and Leilani Hall attended the Health Sciences program review. Both GSC members reported that the external reviewers comments were very positive. 2 VII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m. 3
