Web Coordinators Meeting Summary – December 10, 2013
Topic: Security Breach, featuring Dave Crawford, Network Security Lead
Summary: Dave Crawford, from the Information Security Office, provided details
regarding the August 2013 security breach.
Mr. Crawford discussed other types of network security issues, included phishing
attacks and other email scam attempts. Unfortunately Sacramento State users
saw a higher number of attacks than normal due the scheduled web migration to
the cloud, which was using a different spamwall that was not as comprehensive.
Mr. Crawford reiterated how important it is to analyze every suspicious email,
hover over links to view their URL without clicking, and avoid ever providing your
username and/or password to anyone. IRT will not ask for your password.
Topic: Online Forms
Summary: IRT has expanded a new feature to include an easy to use forms page
used for online form submissions within the WCM.
Located at: Common > Universal Assets > Forms.
Select the desired layout and copy the HTML to paste into whichever page you
are creating a form in. Using the HTML button within the WCM will allow users to
customize all of the fields and areas for their new purpose.
Note: Do not create forms that ask for Level 1 information, such as driver’s
licenses, social security numbers, etc.
Topic: WCM Updates
Summary: IRT officially recommends Chrome as the best web browser when
using the WCM from a usability standpoint. To remove the image/flyout overlays
that sometimes cover elements of the pages within the WCM, chrome has a
solution:
On the address bar, click the shield and select “load unsaved script.” This will
remove the overlays.
Last summer, IRT rolled back an upgrade to the WCM that affected several web
applications and caused documents and images to appear in the left navigation.
IRT is working with Hannon Hill to try and resolve these issues so we can receive
the newest update.
