Web Coordinators Meeting Summary – February 13, 2013 Topic: IRT Website Redesign Summary: IRT, the office behind supporting departments transitioning their websites in the WCM and into Monet, is finally undergoing a redesign itself. The page is still under development, but the new look uses a primarily white layout for the hompage. This differs from older Monet pages which typically have a darker green theme. Secondary pages are being developed to complement this new design. IRT worked with Public Affairs to ensure they captured the necessary Sac State header and footer for the page. New features include: Group tabs for audiences: Students / Faculty & Staff / Top 10 links. More icons and redesigned drop-downs to hide information that was cluttering the old homepage. New footer, where much of the “about us” information has been placed. New “responsive design” which allows the page’s layout to change depending on the horizontal viewspace of the browser/device the page is being viewed on. Mobile friendly. Topic: Google Analytics Walkthrough Summary: IRT offered an in-depth overview of the many features and analytics offered by Google Analytics. Google Analytics can be used both as a marketing, as well as a management tool. It helps track visits to a page/site, unique visits, and comparisons to previous years, etc. Some additional terms with definitions: Bouncerate: The percentage of visitors only viewing one page of your website Exit: how often users exit from each page Duration: average duration of each visitor’s session Location: where your visitors are accessing your website from, including geographical data, browser usage, network access, etc. All of this information is available by request from IRT. Every page managed in the WCM has google analytics data recorded. Output reports are delivered in PDF format. If you are interested in analytics, contact Mark Conrad in IRT. Topic: WCM Updates Summary: A survey will be issued by IRT in the upcoming weeks about how best IRT can support the WCM for its users. An “intermediate” WCM training is in development, which will focus primarily on the WYSIWYG editor. Scheduled for completion in late March. A Google Analytics workshop is also in development.
