START welcomed three new members to the team: Lauren Garrett, Emily
Parmelee, and Amy Peters, who represent Budget and AO/VP offices, UTAPS,
and BAS, respectively.
These new members replace outgoing members: Elena Compo and Norman
Kwong.
SUMMER NEWSLETTER DEBRIEF
FALL NEWSLETTER BRAINSTORMING
ABA ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES
Each member of START introduced themselves to the new members. Sarah
outlined to each member their roles and responsibilities and provided a
handout explaining these points as well.
The summer newsletter was well received by START. This issue was larger than
past summer newsletters due to the amount of content that was available.
Members made particular notes that they liked the new employee profiles, as
well as this issue’s staff spotlight. Suggestions were made to include even more
photographs.
START was asked for ideas for the upcoming fall newsletter, as well as reminded
that Sarah would be sending an email with information that is needed for the
newsletter.
Some ideas shared by START for the Fall newsletter:
 Adopted riverfront for Green News iPad giveaway by UTAPS for News
 Sports clubs moved to the University from ASI – RMS now handles
student club insurance
There have been several organizational changes within ABA.
ABA MISSION, VISION, VALUES, AND
CODE OF CONDUCT FOLDER UPDATE
SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS/EVENTS
Sarah Whyte is now the Senior Director of Business & Administrative Services.
Tony remains the Senior Director for UTAPS, but UTAPS now reports directly to
VP Mike Lee and is now on the department level of the ABA organizational
chart.
Sarah and Andrew have been working on an orientation packet for new ABA
employees, which will include a folder with the new ABA logo and mission,
vision, values and code printed on it. Materials are also being put together for
the packet, as well as an online resource for new employees.
The portfolio design is nearing completion; we are just waiting for repro to find
good pricing to print the folders, and the ABA Admin Council to approve the
contents.
START members were updates or reminded about several upcoming events:
 The fall ABA Speaker Series has been cancelled
 VP Coffee and Conversation is scheduled for November 5th in Sac 275
 All Staff Professionals will be held December 1st in the Alumni Center.
The Leadership Peer Awards will be announced and awarded.
 ABA Appreciation Luncheon will be December 17th in the Alumni Center
