Minutes SLCSD Joint Educator Evaluation Committee Meeting January 9, 2013 3:30-5:00 p.m. Room 116 Welcome- New parent member, Michelle Tuitupou, replacing Dolores Excused: Dan Bergman, Patrick Garcia, Susan McFarland Survey Results: Helpfulness of Evaluation Program Components (if available) Surveys are still coming in. We will review results in our February 13 meeting. Mid-Year Evaluation Forms/Documents Need to change rating labels to formative language. Other wise OK. Year-End Evaluation Forms/Documents Looked fine. Cautions expressed that evaluators need to provide support/assistance before giving “not effective” rating. Decided to use the state’s summative rating rubric for now. That may change after pilot information comes in. Observation of Professional Practice Still need to determine number of observations. A standardized observation form needs to be developed and utilized district-wide. Stakeholder Input Still waiting for state pilot information. Student Growth- SGPs and SLOs There is still concern about this area and how to effectively utilize SLOs for nontested grades/subjects. Rating Descriptions We will discuss this in February. Committee members were asked to review the samples of current and new suggestions. Ratings Reporting Observation summary and summative form will be sent to HR. Extra Meeting to look more in-depth at eCove and ObserverTab? Craig will arrange for further demos and advise committee of dates. Frontloading for February: Stakeholder Input Questions/Concerns/Suggestions? How might demographic and other factors impact the evaluation (i.e. Title I vs Non-Title I or Honors class vs. ESL class)? Next Meeting: February 13, 2013 3:30-5:00 p.m. Room 112
