Objective: I can use prior knowledge to revise passages stylistically or grammatically in a warm up. I
can expand vocabulary in a Voc. 5 quiz. I can utilize introduction strategies and create effective
thesis statements in response to a prompt.
Agenda:
 Revising & Editing Warm-Up
 Voc. 5 Quiz
 Thesis statement and introductory paragraph – DLA essay re-write (final full-length, typed
essay will be due on Tuesday, Nov. 26)
Materials: Warm-Up; Voc. Quiz; “Harrison Bergeron” short story; PICTURE DAY!!!
Homework: Complete the 1984 Pathos and Logos assignment and turn in on Tuesday 11/18 for a
minor grade. Read “Harrison Bergeron” short story by Friday! Voc. 5 quiz today!
Tuesday -11/19
Objective: I can use prior knowledge to revise passages stylistically or grammatically in a warm up. I
can utilize transitions and create effective topic sentences and elaboration to write body paragraphs.
Activities:
 Revising & Editing Warm-Up
 Voc. 6 – new (packet due on Friday)
 Essay body paragraphs – DLA essay re-write
Materials: Warm-Up; Voc. 6 packet
Homework: 1984 Pathos and Logos assignment due today! Read “Harrison Bergeron” by Friday!
Voc. 6 Quiz Monday, Nov. 25. Argumentative essay due Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Wed./Thurs.- 11/20-21
Objective: I can use prior knowledge to revise passages stylistically or grammatically in a warm up. I
can utilize a conclusion strategy to create an effective conclusion paragraph. I can write an effective
argumentative essay.
Activities:
 Revising & Editing Warm-Up
 Conclusion practice
 Argumentative Essay draft – DLA essay re-write
 Read the Maus graphic novel and work on study questions (novel is provided and read in
class)
Note: A sub will be in class on Thursday as I will be at a two-day training at HISD
headquarters.
Homework: Read “Harrison Bergeron” by Friday! Voc. 6 packet due Friday. Voc. 6 Quiz on
Monday, Nov. 25. Argumentative essay due Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Friday – 11/22
Objective: I can use prior knowledge to revise passages stylistically or grammatically in a warm up. I
can peer evaluate a classmate’s argumentative draft and can revise and edit my essay into a final draft
version.
Activities:
 Revising & Editing Warm up
 Read the Maus graphic novel and work on study questions (novel is provided and read in
class)
Note: A sub will be in class today as I will be at a training at HISD headquarters.
Homework: “Harrison Bergeron” due today! Turn in Voc. 6 packet to the drawer. Voc. Quiz on
Monday. Argumentative essay due on Tuesday.
