Monday Week of September 15-19, 2014 Teacher: Kindred Team: APUSH Weekly Learning Targets I can analyze how competition over resources led to conflict within and between North American colonies and American Indians. I can describe the changes over time made in the areas of trade, religion and interactions with other Europeans, Africans and Native peoples. I can analyze the causes and effects of the Great Awakening. I can trace the causes and effects of Britain’s growing internal challenges and external competition and efforts to strengthen imperial control over the colonies. Activities: 1. Do Now- List 2 reasons for the use of slaves over indentured servants in colonial America. 2. Class Discussion: ESP Characteristics of the English Colonies- The class will discuss the ESP make-up of the various colonial regions. 3. Short Answer Question Practice- Students will practice and APUSH SAQ to prepare for tomorrow’s assessment. Do Now- List 1 similarity and 1 difference between the economies of the Northern and Southern colonies. 2. Graphic Organizer: The Great Awakening and The Enlightenment- Students will complete a graphic organizer comparing the two movements. 3. Writing Skills: Thesis Development- Students will be introduced to the next writing skill for the course. Teacher will review components of a thesis and model several examples.
