We will have lots of fun learning math using creative ways through technology and interactive notebooks. I strongly encourage my students to always do their best and always ask questions. I am here to help! During 7th grade math, students will be learning Pythagorean Theorem, rate of change, functions, linear equations, algebra methods, geometry solutions for volume, area and surface area and much more! I will be following the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum. Throughout the year, I will be keeping you updated on how to help your daughter at home. Absences Late Work Projects If a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain the missing assignments from the absent wall/folders. Students will have the number of days absent to complete the work (i.e. 1 day absent = 1 day to turn in work. All late assignments submitted must be turned in to the “Late Inbox” and not the regular inbox. All late work will receive at most a grade of 50. No late work past 2 school days will be accepted. There will be projects assigned throughout the year. They will sometimes require the purchase of supplies, time to research, the use of technology, or time to meet with group members outside of school hours. If this will be a problem, please make sure to contact Ms. Carter at least 2 weeks before the project is due for an alternate assignment. Any concerns mentioned less than 2 weeks from the due date will not be accepted. Do not wait until the last minute. Participation 10% Rewards Records of student behavior will be taken using Class Dojo. This is an application that allows me to award points based on behavior. All parents will receive an access code to the website, so you will be able to see exactly how your student is behaving in class. If you do not receive an access code, please email or call me and I will be have to send it to you. Communication All students will be required to sign up for Remind. This program will allow me to send text reminders and other important information to parents and students without having to exchange numbers.
