Old Business: Career Fair—Heath reported that many good volunteers participated. She thinks it will be a popular volunteer activity. The one problem arose because people were told to arrive too early, then had nothing to do. She said we must make sure volunteers are assigned at peak times next year. Hilton Garden Tour—27 people participated and had a good time. Emeritus Directory—Hazel and Brennan met with the representative of the outside publisher via phone and learned that a separate emeritus directory can be pulled from the current campus directory if Student Publications agrees. Brennan will contact Frank Ragulsky for permission. Meddaugh and Hazel discussed the various ways to get the data needed for the directory and the procedure to obtain individual permissions to include a person’s listing. Golf Tourney and Party—Brennan reviewed plans for the September 8th event. A subcommittee will meet next week to continue the planning process. The board wants OSURA members to get the first chance to register to attend because of space limitations at Trysting Tree. After that, members of ALL and AROPE are welcome to attend. 2 Institutionalizing OSURA—Brennan distributed a draft document outlining the approach to central administration about making OSURA an official part of the university. Wilkins suggested that a portfolio be prepared before any submission of this request. This would be a tabbed document outlining the goals and achievements of OSURA during its two year existence. Hazel will contact Gigi Bruce of the President’s Office to ask about format. Committee Members/Chairs Update—Brennan reported that Irma Delson had declined to become program chair. George Keller has agreed to chair the committee to investigate OSURA’s hosting of a future state or regional conference. In his absence, Brennan, Dunnington and Peters will attending a planning meeting for this year’s event at Portland State University on either June 7, 8, 9. She will introduce a group of students to perform selections from the Spring production of “Three Penny Opera,” beginning at 3:30. President Ray will be asked to speak at 4. Sarff will handle refreshments and door prizes. Lovell will publicize the event via the OSURA newsletter and stories to be sent to OSU This Week and the Gazette-Times. Hazel will send the same release via e-mail to the list serve names. A brief board meeting will be held after the annual meeting to welcome new board members. New Business: Future Programs—Brennan distributed a list of possibilities. The board reviewed it and decided to proceed with a tour of Weatherford Hall, possibly this Spring. Dunnington will follow up on arrangements. Wilkins suggested that OSURA approach the coach of the OSU Women’s Softball team and ask that a home game be designated “OSURA Day” in honor of OSU retirees. In return, OSURA would feature the team on its web site and include an announcement in the newsletter. The board agreed and he will follow up. Newsletter—Lovell said he planned to feature the annual meeting in the next issue as well as a follow-up on the successful retirement and change workshop. He will include shorter items on the golf event and the Weatherford tour and softball game if dates are set by the deadline, April 16. At this point, there is a question about including the registration form for the golf event because all details have not been worked out.
