COURSE/CATALOG DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for students who wish to improve their reading skills. Based on student self-evaluation
and/or faculty referrals, ENGL103 instructors provide individualized reading instruction and support. Units of
credit are earned based on the amount of work completed under the supervision of faculty in the College Skills
Center. May be repeated until the maximum three units have been earned.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
1) Decode words at a level sufficient to allow satisfactory pronunciation
2) Demonstrate improvement in reading comprehension
3) Demonstrate improvement in vocabulary acquisition
