COURSE/CATALOG DESCRIPTION
This course will include information that covers middle and late development within a cultural context for children
between the ages of 5-14 years. The course content will include the study of physical, cognitive and social/emotional
development in both the middle and adolescent years. Not repeatable
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Identify the characteristics associated with the different stages of development in primary, middle and late
years.
Compare and contrast theories of child development.
Describe ways culture, ethnicity and race influence development.
Apply theories to the design of class environments and adult/child interactions.
