HOURS BY ARRANGEMENT: 0 ACTIVITIES: (Please provide a list of the activities students will perform in order to satisfy the HBA requirement): COURSE DESCRIPTION This course in black and white still photography is a practical introduction to basic black and white photographic techniques, including selection and use of a camera, general darkroom procedures, and the making and presentation of projection prints. Not repeatable. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: Demonstrate the techniques of Camera Work (Lenses, film, exposure, and frame composition). Quality process film. Make projection prints of negatives in the darkroom. Demonstrate presentation methods (mounting and matting). Demonstrate the fundamentals of design as practiced in photography. Express themselves with a visual language. Lenses: How they work and their relationship to focal length (depth of field) to the image. Exposure: Light metering systems, and their relationship to the eye’s way of seeing.
