School-Parent Compact
As a component of Revere Middle School’s Parental Involvement Policy, this compact outlines how the entire
school staff, parents, and students will share the responsibility for improved student achievement and the means
by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high
standards.
This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2012-2013 school year.
School Responsibilities:
Revere Middle School will:







Employ highly-qualified teachers that are equipped to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction
in a supportive and effective learning environment.
Collaborate with parents and the community to promote and develop each child’s unique needs.
Encourage parents to volunteer and participate in the planning, review, and improvement of the
school’s parental involvement policy, in an organized, ongoing, and timely manner.
Provide parents with frequent reports about their child’s individual academic achievement (i.e. parentteacher conferences, progress reports and report cards will be sent home each grading cycle, parents can
view their child’s progress online (via the HISD portal).
Provide parents assess to staff (call the school or email the teacher to set up an appointment)
Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe
classroom activities (cal or email the dean for preapproval)
Ensure that information related to school and parent programs, meetings and other activities is sent
home in an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats (upon request of parents
with disabilities) in a timely manner and in a language that parents can understand.
Parent Responsibilities:
We, as parents, will support our child’s learning in the following ways:







Monitoring my child’s attendance.
Talking to my child about his/her class work and homework assignments.
Setting high expectations for my child’s learning.
Creating a positive learning environment in the home.
Seeking opportunities to be involved in decisions and participate at the campus level according to the
Parent Involvement Policy of the school.
Supporting school, district, and classroom rules for student behavior and ensuring that my
child/children conduct themselves according to district standards.
Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school
Student Responsibilities:
We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s
high standards by:






Coming to school daily and arriving to class on time.
Preparing for each class with the appropriate materials.
Completing my class room and homework assignments daily and asking for assistance when needed.
Reading at least 30 minutes every day outside of school time.
Giving my parent or guardian all notices and information received by me from the school.
Adhering to school, district, and classroom rules and regulations for behavior and good conduct.
