PARENTS AND STUDENTS
DRESS CODE POLICY
Navy Blue polo shirt with the BCMA logo, tucked – in
Khaki pants or knee-length khaki skirt, with belt (cargo pants or cargo shorts are not allowed)
Navy Blue BCMA sweater or Solid Navy Blue sweater
BCMA I.D. worn around the neck at all times
Only on Fridays: Students are allowed to wear solid blue jeans (no cuts, holes or tears) with
their BCMA spirit shirt or college shirt.

 read and analyze "Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyons
 create their own "Where I'm From" poem

 read and annotate Erica Goldson's Valedictorian speech.





Diagnostic test will not be counted as a test grade, but the data analysis assignment will be a
participation grade.
SCIENTIFIC DECISION-MAKING with Mr. Wertz and Ms. Miller



Scientific Decision Making will introduce five main topics:
o heart and circulation,
o muscles and bones
o disease (infectious and inherited)
o chemicals and the environment
o healthy behaviors.
It will also connect these topics to the successor 8th grade where students will learn
about the “3 Bs”: Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology and Bioengineering.
Lastly, it will introduce a platform for students to operate like a collaborating scientist,
and compete successfully in Science Fair.
LATIN with Mr. Alterman and Mr. Comer

The first week will introduce the procedures and goals of the class and review
information learned in Stages 1-7 of the Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1.
Students will be reminded of the benefits of studying Latin and the importance of
cognates and derivatives in vocabulary building.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION with Mr. Johnson
General Class Information





Unit:
BCMA physical education uniforms will be sold to students during their PE class
from Mrs. Strong during class and during their lunch period.
Students are required to wear the BCMA’s PE Uniform daily. If your child has he/she
uniform from a previous school year they my wear the same one.
Uniform Cost: FULL SET (SM-LRG) $20 (XL-XXL) $30 Individual pieces $10 each
If your students purchased a uniform already over the summer, their order has not come
in yet. Give the uniforms a few more weeks for arrival.
If any PE or elective teacher is requiring students to dress out before BCMA uniforms
arrive they be asked to wear appropriate workout clothes from home. Their dressing out
grade will not be affected.

Objective


This week students will gain a clear understanding of physical education class
policies, procedures, and expectation.
There will be a lot of focus on specific strategies that will be used to set the stage for
fun & exciting learning while being extremely safe in class.
