Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Director of the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering (MSESE) is an integral part of the management team for the College of Science (COS). The Director of MSESE has the major leadership role in establishing the School’s vision and strategic directions in concert with the vision and strategic direction of COS. The Director makes recommendations to the Dean regarding the management of the School’s research endeavors, educational mission, facilities, and development/alumni. The Director promotes alumni relations for MSESE and plays a major role in development, raising external funds to make the School more self-sustaining. 2. This individual is visible to the public, potential donors, and current donors and has a direct impact on the public’s perception of the university and, consequently, on potential fundraising. 4.
