Department Tips for Success

and information with incase you become ill and cannot attend. You are still responsible for any work
missed.

This course requires you to put in a significant amount of time outside of class. As with most university
level courses the general rule of thumb is for every hour spent in class you should set aside at least two
hours outside of class to master the material. It may take some of you more time than others depending
on your comfort level with the subject matter.
This course uses lectures, assignments and projects to teach you the material. Lectures are not the time
for you to complete your assignments. Do not try and keep up with every mouse click during a
demonstration but instead focus on taking good notes and then using your notes and book to try the
concepts later. The assignments from the book are given to practice the skills required to complete the
projects. These assignments are not very difficult or time consuming but are important when it comes to
learning the software.

University Policies
Academic Integrity
Utah Valley University expects all students to maintain integrity and high standards of individual honesty in
academic work, to obey the law, and to show respect for others. Students of this class are expected to
support an environment of academic integrity, have the right to such an environment, and should avoid all
aspects of academic dishonesty. Examples of academic dishonesty include plagiarizing, faking of data,
sharing information during an exam, discussing an exam with another student who has not taken the exam,
consulting reference material during an exam, submitting a written assignment which was authored by
someone other than you, and/or cheating in any form. Violators of this policy will be subject to disciplinary
action. Cheating will not be tolerated. It will result in a FAILING grade for the course.
In keeping with UVU policy, evidence of academic dishonesty may result in a failing grade in the course and
disciplinary review by the college. Additional information on this topic is published in the student handbook
and is available on the UVU website.
