What We Learned
This Week…
Math – This week we reviewed adding and subtracting
fractions and mixed numbers. We also recalled how to find
the GCF and LCM of numbers. Next week we will begin our
new math unit on multiplying and dividing fractions.
Reading – In our book clubs we continued reading and
discussing historical fiction books. We discussed decisions
our characters have made and identified moments in our
stories where the author used descriptive passages.
Writing – We continued our historical fiction writing unit
by generating a list of problems and characters for our time
period. Then we chose a narrator. We also organized our
writing by planning the beginning, middle, and end.
Science – This week we began our new science unit on
flight. We created a KWL to share what we already know
and what we want to learn. Then we learned about the
properties of air that make flight possible.
