If so, please summarize how and why in the boxes below: Students will be able to demonstrate their acquired knowledge through examination, which will prove their ability to read, write, speak, and/or comprehend Spanish at an intermediate level. In spring 2014, we decided to assess the following core indicators: commands, the present subjunctive, and por vs. para. The assessment indicated that six (6) out of ten ( 10} core indicators were above 70% accuracy. The average was 74%. The four (4) questions that targeted the commands (questions # 1, #8, #9, and #10} showed accuracy between 45% and 97%. Two (2) of the four (4} showed accuracy below 70%: 1.) the nosotros command (question #I 0) showed accuracy of 45% and 2.) the tu command (question # I) showed accuracy of 59%. The 3 questions that targeted the subjunctive (questions #2, The tu and nosotros commands, the tu subjunctive, and por are areas to be reinforced in SPAN 211. Outcome #I Students will read, understand, interpret, and communicate spoken and/or written Spanish at an intermediate level. Twenty-nine (29) assessments were completed by two (2) sections of SPAN 211 in spring 2014. The class average was 7.4 correct answers out of 10. Two (2) sections of SPAN 211 were offered in spring 2014. Both instructors turned in the assessment. The following indicates the number of times out of twenty-nine {29) an incorrect answer was chosen for items 1-10: l ) 12 familiar commands (tu), 2.) 11 subjunctive, 3.) 4 subjunctive, 4.) 16 por vs. para, 5.) 0 culture (Outcome #2), 6.) 4 subjunctive, 7.) 4 por vs. para, 8.} I commands (ustedes}, 9.) 6 commands (ustedes), Page2 #3, and #6) showed accuracy between 62% and 87%. One ( 1) of the three (3) showed accuracy below 70%: I.) the tu subjunctive (question #2) showed accuracy of 62%. The two (2} questions that targeted por vs. para (questions #4 and #7) showed accuracy between 45% and 87%. Por (question #4) showed accuracy of 45%. Outcome# 2 Students will be able to identify personal values and cultural mores different than their own in custom and usage. A culturalcomparative approach will be drawn throughout the course. Students will demonstrate global and cultural awareness through structured activities such as research projects, presentations, examinations, and discussions, etc. In spring 2014, we decided to also assess the core indicator of culture.
