ISU received a subsidy from the KTP Regional Resource Center for Teaching and
Learning as a partner school under the 3rd phase of the Plan of Promoting Regional
Teaching Resource Integration and Sharing of Institutions of Higher Education.

1. The School of Medicine for International Students was formally inaugurated.
2. The Dept. of Nursing had one new program: Bachelor’s Degree Program for
Indigenous Peoples.
3. The master’s program of the Dept. of Industrial Management offers two
concentrations: Industrial Management and Creative Product Design.

1. The Headquarters for Industry-University Collaboration and Intellectual Property
Management provides subsidies to intramural industry-university collaboration
projects with the aim of encouraging ISU faculty to proactively take part in
industry-university collaboration and R&D. A total of 13 projects were subsidized

● Boosting the growth of the ISU Alumni Association:
1.
Providing scholarships for recent graduates, grants and emergency
fund, increasing employment opportunities for alumni, and
assisting alumni in career development and promotion. His
devotion has been widely recognized by alumni as well as the
Board of Directors and Supervisors.
2.
Serving as a supervisor and an executive director of the 3rd and the
4th Board of Directors & Supervisors of the ISU Alumni
Association, respectively. Currently serving as a director of the 6th
Board of Directors & Supervisors of the ISU Alumni Association.
● Achievements:
1.
During the past three decades as a civil servant (including as the
Director of the Office of Public Relations, a senior executive
officer, the Deputy Secretary-general, and the Secretary-general of
Kaohsiung City Council), Mr. Xu has driven several significant
infrastructures in Kaohsiung City. For instance, he contributed to
the construction of incinerators in central and southern Kaohsiung,
coordinated with other government agencies for the budget of
Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (KMRT) System, making
Kaohsiung Taiwan’s second city possessing MRT services, and
supported and fought for holding the 2008 World Games in
Kaohsiung City as well as planned and deliberated the budget.
Recently, he has striven to apply for subsidies from the central
government to complete the construction of Kaohsiung Circular
Line.
2.
To encourage councilors and staff members of the Kaohsiung City
Council to have a spirit of lifelong learning, Mr. Xu established
relevant regulations and rules concerning continuing education and
subsidies for the tuition. Nowadays, one-third of the councilors and
staff members have completed or continue their studies. It not only
helps to broaden their outlook but improves their competencies and
working efficiencies.

ISU successfully completed the annual ISO 14001 surveillance visit.

ISU was the only university in Taiwan passing both the 2013 Evaluation of General Education and
the Second-Cycle Program Evaluation in the first half of 2013.

ISU submitted the 2nd Annual Progress Report to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business (AACSB), and the report was accepted by its Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC).
Feb. 2014
ISU held an AACSB Accreditation Symposium on Feb. 26 and Mar. 5, respectively, with the
attendance of 139 faculty members and administrative assistants from the College of Management,
the College of Tourism and Hospitality, and the International College. ISU expected participants to
have a better understanding of the current progress, future development, work planning, etc. through
the symposium.
