This programme is for anyone who operates at a senior level of an organisation of any size or sector, who uses financial data but lacks formal training in finance. It will give you the tools to address financial performance, evaluate business plans and use financial strategy to create long-term value. During this period she undertook various secondments, including a year working as a private equity investment manager in the City. She is a chartered accountant and was for 13 years a committee member of the ICAEW’s Faculty of Finance and Management. Other outside roles have included nonexecutive directorships of a Health Authority and an NHS Trust, and membership of the Independent Remuneration Panels for two local authorities. Her research interest is in the practical implications of corporate governance: in particular as it affects boards and board committees. She has worked with remuneration committees and audit committees of larger companies. Ruth’s PhD focused on executive remuneration, and she conducted interviews at FTSE 350 companies and with consultants to determine how executive pay was determined.
