Minutes from February were approved.
The committee conducted an online survey for HISD regarding the Teacher Appraisal and
Development System.
Principal Williams provided committee members with the copy of the February E-newsletter and
reviewed the following school events and activities: Literacy Fair, Sadie Hawkins Dance, Spark
Park Clean Up, Black History Program, Thundersoul Concert, Alumni Career Day, and Evening of
Praise.
Flyers for the State of the School Address were provided to the committee. Principal Williams
shared suggestions from the FACE department regarding how to market the event. Huey and
Ken will market for the State of the School address using the churches and superneighborhoods.
Mrs. Williams is to write a personalized message/appeal for use in the community regarding the
importance of attending the event.
Membership projection for the upcoming school year is 474 for budgeting purposes.
Membership may increase due to magnet recruiting and North Forest students at Key MS.
We will replenish current stock of band uniforms rather than buying a new set as current
uniforms are in good condition. We will also plan for a better band camp over the summer for a
fee.
HISD proposed school closings include Fleming MS. This could affect Key MS and Kashmere HS
regarding enrollment and school closures in the future.
The auditorium sound system is in need of repair. The principal is open to ideas about how to
fund it.
