Business and Noninstructional Operations AR 3452.1 STUDENT STORE OPERATIONS Operation of Student Store 1. Merchandising classes shall operate a student store if one exists. 2. In years when the school doesn’t have a merchandising class the store may be operated by the Future Business Leaders of America under the supervision of a business teacher. 3. Profits from store operations may be expended in any of the following ways: a. Reinvestment in business (inventory additions, equipment replacements and additions, building construction and improvement, etc.) b. Purchase of equipment and supplies for the school business department. c. Financial aid to the F.B.L.A. for their help in operation of the store; the amount to be determined by the faculty member in charge of the store. With the exception of inventory additions, the expenditures of profits for any of the above items must receive prior approval of the chief site administrator and the Assistant Superintendent of Business. 4. Profit From operation of a student store may not be expanded for anyone’s personal use. 5. Excess cash shall be placed in a saving account so that it may draw interest until it is needed. As the purpose of a student store is not to accumulate money, these excess funds should not be allowed to accumulate from year to year without some plan for their use.
