Behavior Management-Flexible Grouping
Behavior Management
Strategy: Behavior Management- Flexible Grouping
Appropriate Grade Level: K- 12
Procedures/Steps: These strategies are called flexible grouping because
they include grouping students of different ages, and ability levels. Here are
some different strategies to use when grouping students:
1.) Flexible Grouping: grouping students by age, ability, or interest.
2.) Student –led common interest groups- Students get into small groups to
build upon each others ideas.
3.) Dyads- students are paired in groups of 2: one student with a higher
ability level and one lower ability level student. They are able to share
knowledge with each other.
4.) Individual grouping: Student work by themselves on tasks.
Comments and/or tips:
- New prospectives are gained thru different types of grouping.
- Children are able to collaborate with each other.
- Some children might have picked up on things taught during a
lesson that another other did not. They can recall the facts to each other.
