PUBLIC COMMENTS

District Employees

School snake in the science room. Ms. Condit felt that the snake was a benefit to the
students. Over the past summer, Ms. Condit shared that the district got rid of the snake due
to a flood in the classroom that was believed to have been caused by the snake. Ms. Condit is
discouraged that she lost this teaching tool. Ms. Condit felt like she was never given an
opportunity to address the issue nor be a part of the process of finding a new home for the
snake. Ms. Condit felt this was reactive, not proactive.

Canyon Robins – AHS student – Canyon shared a copy of a petition that almost 200 students
signed to have the snake returned to the AHS science classroom. Canyon stated that the snake’s
absence was noticed by students after returning this fall. Canyon shared that there was a recent
article in the school newspaper, The Pepperbox, addressing the issue. Canyon shared that
students would like to see the snake returned to the classroom.
