A. INSTRUCTIONAL PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY

FTES Generation for these ‘core’ classes has more than doubled during past 3 years. Many of AG classes are now offered on a 2-yr-cycle affecting the
student’s degree plan timeliness. FTES from the ‘degree’ may need to be pooled with the other degrees/certificates for AG as there are 2 degrees and 2
certificates which share multiple required and elective classes.

Class Size is based on the room assignment and CTA agreement. The average Fill Rate of 90% is ok.

FTES/FTEF ratio is GOOD .
B. STUDENT PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY
 Student Success is LOW ~55%. The difference between Success & Retention may be related to drop policy whereby the student must drop themselves. It
may also be related to the fact that these core courses are only offered once every two years, so students who are not doing well may be more likely to stay
and attempt to pass the class to avoid having to wait two years to try the class again.
 Student Retention is HIGH for the core with ~93%.
 Persistence is unknown. Persistence data is not available.
 Completion/Achievement of Degree: NON-EXISTENT degree achievement. However, this degree was only been restarted in fall 2010 and cycle of offerings
is not conducive to completion. Still while Ag Business is huge, the IVC students may benefit more from a tighter alignment with universities that offer AG
options and merge concepts from the Ag Science major with the Ag Business major.
 Transfer Success data is not available .


FULFILLMENT OF COLLEGE MISSION
Graduation Requirement – NO, but 4 AG classes fulfill elements of the GE requirements Area B Natural Sciences and 1 Area D Social /Beh. Sciences
Gatekeeper – NO
Responds to local job market – YES – Imperial County’s primary and largest industry is agriculture
Responds to other community need – as above
D. OPPORTUNITY ANALYSIS: (successes, new curriculum development, alternative delivery mechanisms, interdisciplinary strategies, etc.)
 Curriculum Opportunity: The discipline faculty need to review the core required courses, elective options, and transfer options for the AG
degrees/certificates. Verifying current alignment may increase transfer rates and possibly the number of degrees.
 Alternative Delivery: The 2 year cycle for many classes delays the student from earning the degree. When the courses are reviewed the current cycle
pattern must be reviewed to provide students with the timely option for completion.
 Other issues - Future growth of the Agricultural Science program could occur, but it would require more resources. More land would be needed than is
currently available to be able to fully teach students the variety of agricultural techniques they would need to know. Having another Agriculture instructor
would help to offer courses on a more frequent basis, so students would be able to graduate faster
 Sufficient time needs to be given to recruit students and grow the program. We currently have one full-time Agriculture instructor, and 3 part-time. There
are currently 11 students who have declared their majors as Agriculture Business Management.
E. SUMMARY OF PROGRAM “HEALTH” EVALUATION: (including consideration of size, scope, productivity, and quality of outcomes)
 MODERATE – Enrollment for these courses have been steadily increasing, nearly doubling each year for the past 3 academic years. While the program has
not yet produced any graduates with certificates or degrees in Agricultural Business Management, the program is still new and needs time to develop
properly. The Ag Business program is smaller than the Ag Science program and offering course on a 2-year cycle is not conducive to growth.
