University of Houston Hazardous Waste Pickups and Management in EHS Assistant Universal Waste • Universal waste applies specifically to: • • • • • Hazardous waste batteries Pesticides Mercury-containing equipment Mercury lamps Paint and paint-related waste • Select the “Universal Waste” radio button to add a universal waste container. • Use the above descriptions to attach one to the container. • “Submit” finishes the container, “Add Another Container” adds another. • “Cancel” removes the current container, and “Done” submits the request. Unknown waste • For unknown wastes, select the “Unknown/Other” radio button. • Select the physical form, and the quantity and unit. • # of Containers should reflect the number of containers exactly matching in contents, capacity, and container type. • Describe the location of the waste • Give as much information about the waste as possible. • “Submit” adds the container. • “Add Another Container” adds subsequent containers • “Cancel” removes the current container • “Done” submits the request Second Container, and So On • You can continue to add containers of different types until your pickup request is complete.
