SUNDAY
LENT = SEEK THE LORD!
Today’s Gospel presents
the Transfiguration of
Jesus before his apostles,
Peter, James and John who
saw his glory.
St. Bede says that “our
Lord,
in
a
loving
concession allowed his
apostles to enjoy for a very
short
time
the
contemplation
of
the
happiness that lasts forever, so as to enable them to bear
the adversity with greater fortitude.” There is no doubt that
the memory of those moments beside our Lord on the
mountain helped those apostles through many difficult
moments in their lives.
We have been “transfigured” in Baptism when we have
become God’s children. During Lent the Church invites us
to transform to change and to eliminate the “bad weeds” and
to accept and to follow Jesus.

cross, our soul produces a juice that feeds and strengthens
us. When we haven’t got any crosses, we are dry. If we
carry them with resignation, what happiness, what

Masses.
Time: Rosary at 7:00pm followed by Mass and Sermon

SHARELIFE: April 3, 2011
During the Lenten Season we are encouraged to be
generous and to help others by helping ShareLife.
Jesus tells us to fast, pray and to be charitable.
The prophet Isaiah said: “This is the fast that I choose: to
loose the bond of injustice, to share your bread with the
hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover them…then your light
shall break forth like the dawn”.
Through ShareLife we feed the hungry, clothe the naked,
welcome the homeless. Be ready for April 3, 2011 with
your generosity.
FEAST OF THE
ANNUNCIATION
This is a solemn feast
even though it follows
during Lent. Instead of
the Stations of the
Cross we are going to
have the Mass at
7:00pm. We anticipate
the
Stations
on
Thursday, March 24th at 6:30pm in Italian and at
7:30pm in English; we hope this is not too inconvenient
for your schedule.

DATE
DURING LENT
Try, very hard to attend daily Mass; don’t be satisfied only
with Sunday Mass; we eat everyday; shouldn’t we receive
the Eucharist every day? Come to the Stations of the
Cross; bring your children. This powerful exercise will
unite us to Jesus’ suffering and would help us to carry our
daily crosses.
Read good books like the Gospel – The Imitation of
Christ – books about Jesus – the Lives of the Saints,
etc…Where to buy a good book? Go to Di Carlo’s
Religious Store on 14 Racine Rd. (between Martin Grove
and Kipling).
40 DAYS FOR LIFE
As we consider these words in Pope Benedict’s Lenten
Message, “To be guided by the Word of God”, we want to
remind you that 40 Days for Life, started again on March 6th
at St. Charles Borromeo Church. If you have the time, go
there (even for the day or a few hours) with other people
praying to combat the evil of abortion. Read more info:

The 2011 Lenten Lecture series with St. John’s Bible
Wednesdays at St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish begins
with Mass at 7:00pm followd by a one-hour lecture at

SECONDA SETTIMANA DI QUARESIMA
Il Vangelo ci presenta la Trasfigurazione di Gesu’. Gesu’
mostra la sua gloria ai suoi tre discepoli: Pietro, Giacomo e
Giovanni.
La nostra “trasfigurazione” e’ avvenuta al Battesimo,
quando la grazia di Dio ci ha fatti suoi figli.
Durante la quaresima la chiesa ci invita a trasformarci, a
cambiare, ad eliminare il peccato, grande o piccolo che sia,
perche’ e’ sempre un’offesa all’amore di Dio.
QUARESIMA e’ tempo di rinnovamento interiore, nuovo
orientamento verso Gesu’, seguendo Lui, amando Lui
mediante l’osservanza dei Comandamenti.
Durante la quaresima siamo invitati a pregare di piu’. Noi
che non leggiamo libri, allora, aumentiamo la nostra fede
con la Messa, anche quotidiana (non mangiamo ogni
giorno?...), il Santo Rosario, la Via Crucis, accostiamoci
alla Santa Eucaristia e alla Confessione ben preparati.
Evitiamo ogni critica, rancore, risentimento e porgiamo
sempre il perdono.
Siamo caritatevoli, specialmente verso S HARELIFE
che
aiuta, come sapete, tante e tante organizzazioni mediante la
nostra carita’.
