
What to hand in –
1. Appendix A – The Wedding Planning Sheets
 The Wedding Planning sheets filled in with the research you and your partner found for
the wedding.
 You do not need to include pictures or a works cited – these figures should reflect the
research that you and your partner came up with.
2. Reflection for the Wedding Process
 A 1 page reflection on the planning of your wedding and an explanation of your guest list
is to be included in your submission.
 You must include the positives and negative aspects that came up through your planning
stages.
 This is to be from the perspectives of both partners. Answer questions such as: What
parts of the planning were easy? What parts were difficult? What caused problems and
disagreements between your couple?
 Were you able to compromise elements of the planning process, or was it the effort of
one person in the relationship more than another?
3. Appendix B – Your Future Reflection
 All couples must address the 2 mandatory issues, and each couple is to choose 2
optional issues to respond to.
 In this section you are challenged to discuss and resolve the issues that are presented
here. You are to write out your solution to each dilemma and explain the reasoning for
your decision.
 This should be a page reflection for each issue
Assignment Outline
For this assignment you are going to try to plan with as much accuracy as possible your future life path. The
challenge here will be to do this with the input of your marital partner. The complexity of a marriage will be
experienced by the two of you as you work through the various components, and make your tough decisions in
each stage of this assignment.
The Tasks:
Section A- The Wedding
Research the costs associated with your wedding. You may be required to contact a number of retailers and
service providers in order to obtain accurate information. In order to remain fair, you cannot assume that you
will receive any of your major expenses as ‘gifts’ for your wedding. This includes cars, house, etc. Record
your expenses on the "Planning your Wedding" sheet. For this assignment you can assume your parents will
assist in the cost of your wedding but for no more than 25% of the total cost so write this deduction off.
You are also to include a TOTAL guest list between 85 - 175 guests. The benefit from your wedding is that
you will be granted a gift that equals $100/per guest invited. This money can be used to help cover costs
of the wedding or for your financial future. A 1 page reflection on the planning of your wedding and an
explanation of your guest list is to be included in your submission.
Section B - Your Future
As in any marriage, challenges can be more than financially driven. In this section you will have to confront the
realities faced by married couples. There will be an element of choice involved here, but certain questions must
be answered by all couples. Try to be realistic and mature in your approach to these questions, remember that
you are supposed to be two people that deeply care for each other and want to resolve your differences. This
section will involve your discussion of the issues presented and then your recording of your decision.
You are to write out your solution to each dilemma and explain the reasoning for your decision. All couples
must address the mandatory issues, and each couple is to choose two (2) optional issues to respond to.
Mandatory Issues:
o Children: If any? How many? When?, Who stays home?, How will you afford them?
o Roles & Finances: How will you spend your time together/apart? Will your house have an open door to
friends and family?, Who will be responsible for household duties (i.e. Cooking, dishes, laundry,
cleaning, grocery shopping), How will you make major financial decisions? How will your finances be
split or shared?
Optional Scenarios:
o One of you loses your job and struggles to find new employment.
o The husband (choose a partner if same-sex) is unfaithful.
o You become pregnant with a child that has tested positive for a developmental disorder
o One partner begins to either: drink alcohol excessively, smoke marijuana regularly, or gamble on a
regular basis
