APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
This form is only to be used by applicants:
(a) who are applying for an International (non-EU) place on an eligible full time undergraduate degree programme* and
(b) who are normally resident outside of the European Union (EU) and
(C) who are presenting secondary level qualifications from outside the European Union (EU)
Irish and EU/EEA applicants should apply via the Central Applications Office. See www.cao.ie for application details.
*Please note that certain degree programmes in Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences have restricted entry for international students. Applicants should contact the Admissions Office at NUI Galway at
admissions@nuigalway.ie for separate application details and deadlines. Applications for Medicine submitted to the International Affairs Office will not be reviewed.
Please ensure you submit official records of the self-reported information contained in your application. Complete applications must include:
☐ A completed Application Form.
☐ Original or certified copies of school transcripts/examination certificates (or forecast results if available). Where an applicant has not yet completed
Secondary School (High School), the most recent transcript should be submitted.
☐ SAT and/or ACT scorecard (US Applicants Only). The NUI Galway College Board code is 5878 for SAT and AP reports. The NUI Galway ACT code is
5351.
☐ A Personal Statement (typed) of no more than 800 words outlining your academic interests, sporting and/or cultural interests and your reasons for applying
to NUI Galway.
☐ A certified true copy of your Birth Certificate or Passport.
☐ Two sealed Letters of Recommendation, ideally from a teacher and/or guidance counsellor.
☐ IELTS or TOEFL certificate, in the case of applicants whose first language is not English.
Note: Certified copies of documents may be obtained by bringing the original document and a photocopy of the document to your University/College, Local Police Station, Solicitor, Courthouse, or
Commissioner of Oaths, and having the photocopy certified and officially stamped as a true copy of the original. Non-certified photocopied copies of transcripts are not acceptable and applications containing
photocopied documents will not be reviewed. Please note also that application documents will not be returned.

Decisions are made on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applicants can generally expect a decision within 4-6 weeks of receipt of a complete
application. Where exam and/or test results are pending, students should indicate when results will be sent to the University or have their school
provide predicated grades where possible. In such cases, the University may issue a conditional offer subject to the applicant achieving specific
results in forthcoming tests or examinations.
