GYM AND LIBRARY
Once classroom routines are firmly established we will begin
to make use of our school library and gym. Information
regarding our scheduled times will be sent home shortly.
FOOTWEAR
Running shoes are to be worn at school. Your child needs to
bring an “indoor” pair of running shoes to be left at school
(names on your child’s shoes please). Please send these
“indoor” shoes to school as soon as possible.
SNACKS
Please send your child to school with two healthy snacks and
a drink each day. Fruit and raw vegetables are excellent
snacks. The children have approximately 10 minutes for
snack. We are a “NUT FREE ZONE”. Please do not send
any snacks that contain these ingredients. Please read all
labels before sending snacks to school.
DUE TO THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE POLICY, FOOD
AND BIRTHDAY TREATS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT
SCHOOL.
ABSENCE
When your child is away please contact the office at
(905)793-4861 and leave a message. Please send a note in
the agenda if your child’s lunch, bus, or pick up routine
changes. Students are responsible for catching up on missed
notes, handouts and assignments.

Welcome!! Your child’s school year has started! Many
wonderful opportunities are planned and we look forward to
having you and your child share these experiences with us!
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
The expectations in our classroom are based on the
fundamental value of respect and further outlined in our
Code of Conduct. They are as follows:
1) Respect for self,
2) Respect for others,
3) Respect for property,
4) Respect for authority.
ASSIGNMENTS AND TESTS
Throughout the year, students will receive a variety of
assignments and tests. Students will be given sufficient
notice of a test or assignment date, which will be recorded
in their agendas. I would like all parents to sign all tests and
assignments that are brought home and return the following
school day. Class time will always be given for large
assignments, so they should never be left to the last minute.
Students are expected to maintain their assignment
materials, and bring them to school accordingly as they can
always use extra class time to work on upcoming tasks.
SCHOOL MATERIALS
All school textbooks are to be treated with great care. If a
notebook or a novel is damaged or lost, the student will be
responsible for payment to replace it. FOR THE GRADE 3
STUDENTS ONLY: Students are encouraged to bring a
calculator and geometry set.
Students are welcome to bring in a box of tissues.
GOOD WORK HABITS
During this year we will focus on continuing to develop good
work habits such as
1. Attentiveness during class lessons especially when the
teacher is giving instructions.
2. Students should focus their attention on the tasks
assigned and use class time wisely so as to achieve maximum
progress.
3. Notebooks are to be neat and up to date.
AGENDAS AND COMMUNICATION FOLDERS
Students will be responsible for writing in their agendas
daily. Please ensure that you have seen the agenda messages
by initialing beside the message. Inside the agenda is a
communication folder. Important letters and notes to be
signed will be put in the folder marked “TO BE SIGNED
AND RETURNED TO SCHOOL”. Please ensure that any
money being sent to school is in a sealed envelope clearly
labelled with your child’s name and what the form and money
is for. Please place this on the return to school side of the
folder. The other side of the folder marked “KEEP AT
HOME” are items that can be kept and enjoyed at home.
MONTHLY CALENDAR
At the beginning of each month the students will receive a
monthly calendar of events, birthdays, trips, excursion,
quizzes and tests taking place within our classroom and the
school community. Please review this calendar with your child
each month. Due to many allergies, please do NOT send food
to share with other students.
