Grade 2 Fiction Lesson 4 The Ugly Duckling Fiction Lesson 4 (7) The author Jerry Pinkney has done an amazing job of including rich, literary language that stimulates not only our visual sense, but also our senses of touch, smell, and sound. This descriptive language allows me to visualize the unfolding scenes as a sequence of events that move in my mind like a movie. We are stopping in the middle of the book, but there are more scenes that will unfold before the duckling’s problems are solved. Using the sequence of events and what you know about the structure of fiction, turn and talk to your partner about how you think this story will end when we finish reading tomorrow
