Report Cards
Report cards will be distributed to the students on
Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Class placements for the new school year will be
announced on the first day of school. Holding off on
class placements until the first day allows for
adjustments as new registrations come in.
Hopefully, it will reduce the number of changes
which will need to be made on the first PD Day –
Friday, September 12, 2014.
Toonies for Autism
We had a very successful week of activities to raise
awareness about Autism from May 5 to May 9.
Thanks to all the students who had crazy hair, wild
costumes and amazing ties and tiaras! The week
finished off with a Fun Fitness Friday. Thanks to
the Parent Group for organizing the activities along
with our student led Athletic Council and Spirit
Council. A total of $3000 was raised to support
those affected by Autism.
Reconstruction of Bolton Heights
Work will commence in the summer to rebuild
Bolton Heights Road. A new surface, sidewalks on
both sides and lighting will be added. For more
information, the Town is planning an information
Open House for the public on Jun e 11 at the
Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness – Youth
Centre (Main Floor) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunscreen
Over exposure to the sun can
cause skin damage. Students
are reminded to take
precautions to protect the
skin. Some recommendations
to reduce the effects of sun
damage are:
- wear protective clothing to cover the skin
- wear a hat to protect the eyes and the skin
- wear sun block, stay away from direct sunlight
where possible
- know your skin type: fair skinned people burn
easier.
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to review these
strategies with their children.
Please remember to notify the office
Please let us know if your family will be
moving out of our school area over the summer
months. Transfer papers are required at the other
school.
Last minute calls
We have numerous calls that come in between 2:45
p.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day asking us to let family
members know of a change in home time routine.
While we will make every effort to let a child know
of a change in plan, this should be the exceptional
circumstance in times of emergency. Please ensure
that your child knows to come to the office and wait
in case you are going to be late, or to see a
neighbour in case you are unable to be home. We
strive to keep classroom interruptions to a
minimum, so these messages should be reserved for
the rare emergencies which inevitably occur.
Volunteer Tea
We are inviting all volunteers to join us on
Thursday, June 19 from 1:55 to 2:55 for a Volunteer
Tea in the library. We are very grateful to all those
who have contributed in so many ways to our
school community. Please join us so we can express
our appreciation.
Proper Clothing and Protection
Warm beautiful days are fast approaching;
therefore, parents are reminded to please ensure
that your child is protected from the sun. Current
fashions in clothing may cause some problems if
they are worn to school, regardless of grade level.
Please consider the following when you purchase
summer clothes:
 Observing certain modesty in dress is
advised. Extremely tight fitting clothing is
not appropriate.
 Spaghetti straps, tank tops, tube tops,
muscle shirts and halter tops are not
appropriate.
 Short shorts are not permitted at school.
Modest length is expected. (approximate
finger tip)
 Tops should not be "cropped" (if they
expose the belly when the arms are raised
straight above the head, they are too short
for school) nor should they have large cut
armholes, be skin tight, or sheer.
Holydays
Throughout July, Holy Family Church is offering a
weekly Summer Camp program for students.
Students are invited for arts and crafts, sports,
music, faith and friendship. Please call 905-8571938 for more information.

A very special thanks goes out to our lunchroom
supervisors/student monitors who have served us
this year. Mrs. Sanii, Mrs. DeFrancesca, Ms. J.
DiFelice, Ms. C. Carlini, Ms. L. Pallotta, Mrs. A.
Williams, Ms. C. Pellecchia, Ms. A. Cisterna, Ms. L.

students inside and outside. We are grateful for
their dedication in serving our community.
Any support that others may offer for the fall would
be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in
helping, please submit your name for consideration
at the office.
Grandfriends
Our Student Faith Ambassadors participated for a
sixth year in the “Grandfriends” program where
groups of students walked to the King Nursing
home and spent time with the seniors who live
there. The students and residents of the home
enjoyed making crafts and spending time together.
We wish to thank Mme Attard, Mme Filippo and
Mrs. D’Amico for their time and efforts in
encouraging the students to contribute to their
larger community.
Rosary Club
Throughout the month of May, a group of students
had the opportunity to pray the Rosary at
lunchtime. Thank you to all the staff and students
who took part in praying for special intentions.
Eco-Club
Special thanks to the Eco-team which includes staff,
students and parents for their work on our front
gardens. We are now in our fifth year of renewal at
the front of the school. Special thanks to the staff
and some of our parents including Mrs. Cardoza for
their work in ensuring that the plan comes together.
Great care has been taken to include plants which
are part of our studies at school and also plants
which we will see in the spring and fall while
students are in school. Thanks to everyone for your
hard work. The successful efforts of the Eco-team
have allowed us to maintain our status as an EcoSchool.
Lost and Found
It is amazing that we have so many unclaimed items
in our Lost and Found Bin. Please stop by the school
and have a look before the end of the school year if
your child has some clothing items missing. Any
remaining
June.
will be given to charity at the end of
Storage of Medication
We would like to remind all parents
who have had medication stored at the
school for their child that it will be
sent home on the last day. We do not
retain medications from one year to
the next. New medications and the
proper forms for storage will need to
be filled out for the new school year. We will send
an individual reminder to all parents affected by
this policy. Please be reminded that Epi-Pens have
a shelf life of one year.
From the Library
A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who
helped out in the library and at the book fairs this
year. Your dedication is truly appreciated by staff
and students. Thanks to Mrs. Milani for her weekly
help and to the many others who help during Book
Fairs.
Book Fair: Thank you once
again for the wonderful
support given to the book
Fair. It was a huge success.
Monies raised will go
towards buying new books
for the library.
All books are now due back to the library.
Student Safety
Please remind your children to come and go directly
when travelling from home to school or vice versa.
There is greater safety when children travel with
one another.
Therefore, they should not be
delaying at the playground or visiting with other
families without prior parental consent. Please
discuss street safety with your son/daughter. Once
again we remind you that the buses are for bus
students only.
The school buses cannot
accommodate friends who may be going to
someone else’s house after school.
First Day of School
The first day of the new school year
for students is Tuesday, September
2nd. School begins at 8:30 a.m. Signs
will be posted around the school
building directing students to their
grade level meeting place. The
school office will open its doors the week of August
25th for new school registrations.

department will be holding their annual YOUNG
RIDER ORIENTATION DAY for ALL Kindergarten
children. We encourage you to participate by
bringing your kindergarten children and
elementary aged siblings to a one-hour program
between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon. Bus
rides and a school bus safety video are only part of
the informative fun. All Young Rider Days have been
a tremendous successes. To confirm your

After School Security
Students must be diligent on gathering all materials
prior to the end of the school day. Once
dismissed, there is no supervision provided
to students. Students and/or parents
should not be returning to the school after
school hours to retrieve books or
belongings. In order to ensure the safety of the
workplace, no students or parents may wander to
classrooms after school.
Similarly, please note that students who are playing
nearby after school, do not have access to school
washrooms. Once students are dismissed, cleaning
and preparations are put in place for the following
day – no students, other than those here for a
specific school activity, should be in the building at
that time.
Water Safety
Children playing in and around storm sewers and
watercourses, entering storm sewers through the
outfalls, and entering storm sewers through access
covers can lead to danger. Please share with your
child(ren):
 Water flows in storm sewers and
watercourses are unpredictable and may
change quickly;
 Toxic gases may be present;
 Tragic falls could take place; and
 Access is restricted and therefore, rescue
attempts are difficult
