Literacy
Work on writing has been a complete success!
Both reading groups were able to build their
stamina up to 20 minutes within one to two
days. We have a class of authors! This week,
we are beginning our third station, Read to
Someone. Read to Someone is usually one of
the students’ favorite stations because they
get to read with a partner. It is also one of the
stations that takes the longest to introduce
because there are a lot of skills the students
need to master so that their time with their
reading partner is spent effectively. The
students will learn how to help each other with
words they get stuck on. They will also learn
how to question each other at the end of each
page to ensure that their partner is
comprehending the story.

Science
This week we are reviewing our knowledge of
volcanos, landslides, and earthquakes by reading
in our science book and learning how to take
notes. We will also incorporate drawing by
creating and labeling illustrations for each fast
change. We will also begin to read “Magic
Treehouse Earthquake in the Early Morning.”
We will finish out the week with an assessment.
