MOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Department of Public Safety Welcome Spring Semester! Finally! Spring is here and we’re ushering in warmer weather and new beginnings. Your Department of Public Safety has several new initiatives. We’ve spent a few hours with area elementary classes with “Click-it the Cricket”. Click-it the Cricket helps kids remember to always buckle up. Over 450 children heard the message and received a coloring book to reinforce safety reminders. We will also visit these schools this month to talk to the kids about stranger danger, internet safety, and how to dial and communicate with the 911 system. In June we’ll bring bicycle safety training to the second and third grade student at Pierce Elementary. With a grant from The Foundation of MCC, over 80 children will receive a bicycle helmet of their own! But we’re not forgetting about the things we’ve already started! The whistle program provides anyone with a free whistle on a lanyard. Carry your whistle to use should you feel threatened. Whistles are available anytime in our Public Safety main office. The escort program exists to ensure your safe arrival anywhere on campus. For whatever reason, if your safety feels compromised then call us at (810) 762-0222 or depress the button on any of the emergency phones. While we’re talking about programs, were you aware that we operate a lost and found program? Should you lose or find an item on campus just let us know. We have many items unclaimed in the lost and found. Missing a flash drive? We have lots of them! With a detailed description of your lost item we will gladly return them to you. Based on the item and information available, we will attempt to return found items to the rightful owner. All eligible items are donated to charity after 60 days but we’d much rather reunite them with their owners! Spring is a great time to reassess your path. Every day is a new beginning—enjoy yours!
