Public Safety employs sworn-in officers with full
arrest powers under the authority of the Michigan
Community College Act, (Michigan PA 614 of 1997).
Also, the MCC Department of Public Safety is licensed through the Michigan Commission on Law

Our mission is to protect and serve the students and
staff of Mott Community College and to prevent crime
through collaboration and cooperation. Our goal is to
maintain a safe campus environment. We patrol the
main campus and the area encompassing a 1 mile
radius around the campus, including the Cultural Center and Kearsley Park. We staff the Southern Lakes
Branch Center, the Lapeer Extension Center, the
Northern Tier Center and the Workforce Education

The Commander and Chief is Back!
Since the middle of May, Chief Theresa Lock, Director of the Mott Community College Public Safety
Department has been on a medical leave. She is now
back and ready to dive right in and continue leading
the Department of Public Safety with integrity, courage and strength. To ensure that the Department of
Public Safety continued on the right path, in her absence, Sgt. Lloyd Nicholson served as her interim
Chief. Sgt. James Malcolm was a key team player in
ensuring that the department ran smoothly as well.
Chief Lock would like to thank everyone for their
cards, get well wishes and their overall support of her
when she needed it the most. From the Department of
Public Safety: “WELCOME BACK CHIEF!”
