Matthew 5:9
On Remembrance Day we pause to remember all the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to ensure our freedom. We too can do our part by ensuring that we support their message of Peace though our words, deeds, and the example we set for all our children.
As Mother Teresa once said, “if we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other”. Let us never forget that we are one in Christ.

Parents are reminded that we have a lunch table set up in the main foyer. Please place student’s work and lunches on the table.
Please let your child know that you will be dropping off their work or their lunch and then during recess breaks they can come to the foyer to get their belongings.
We have provided labels for the items— please clearly indicate your child’s name, grade and teacher.
Please review the following items to help us provide a safe learning environment for your children here at St. Veronica School:
All parents/visitors are required to sign in at the main office and receive a visitor’s sticker.
If students are leaving school early, parents are asked to pick up their children at the office and sign them out.
When meeting students at dismissal times, parents are asked to wait outside the school entrances.
Parents are not to be in the school yard during recess times, which includes 8:15—8:30 AM.
( Please remember that to most of the children in the yard, including the teachers on duty, you are a stranger.)
Vehicles are not to be parked in the lanes at the front of the school at any time.
During rainy days please continue to use the
Kiss n’ Ride lanes and not the front of the school.
Please be reminded that the school day begins at 8:30 AM. (There will be staff on duty starting at 8:15 AM. Please do not drop off your children, or send them to school, before these times as supervision will not be available. This also applies to inclement weather days).
Each and every Thursday remember to send in your loonie for a slice of piping hot pepperoni pizza!!

We are calling all trick-or-treaters! We ask that you give us any hard candy or chips.
Hard candy is needed to stimulate the sugar and nutrition needed for the day. Chips are needed to help pregnant women keep their babies healthy using the salt. Your continued support is always greatly appreciated! Thank you!

P.A.L.S. leaders will be out in the yard daily during the recess encouraging exercise, fun, and the message that, "There is always room for one more."
ELEMENTARY PROGRESS REPORTS
This year the Ministry of Education continues to implement a reporting system which embraces a Progress Report (in November) a Term 1 Report Card (in February) and a Term 2 Report
Card (in June).
The Progress Report will be going home on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
The Progress Report is designed to show a student’s development of learning skills and work habits during the fall of this school year, as well as a student’s general progress in working towards the achievement of curriculum expectations. Please be aware, the Progress Report is not a for mal Report Card. Students will not be r eceiving letter grades indicating achievement of overall expectations.
Your son’s/daughter’s teacher will be holding an interview (Grades 1 to 8) on the evening of
Thursday, November 19, 2015 , only for students where there may be a concern or further parental input may prove beneficial to support learning. Interviews will only take place if requested either by the teacher or the Parent(s)/Guardian(s).
There are no formal progress reports for J.K. and S.K students.
This program satisfies the safety criteria of most parents as it allows for the delivery of the child to the school door or playground under the supervision of school staff and/or parent volunteers.
The parent vehicle enters the school driveway stopping at the designated drop area.
The child is kissed goodbye by the parent who then exits the school property confident that their child has safely reached their destination.
At most school sites, school bus delivery occurs simultaneously, using a separate designated bus lane.
* At St. Veronica, our Kiss and Ride is located on the West Side of the School. The
FRONT of the school is used only for Buses! Kindly DO NOT USE the front of the school to drop off your students from 8:15-8:30 a.m.
The use of on-site pavement markings and signage assists in guiding parents into the appropriate "Kiss & Ride" lane. The school staff in their orange traffic vests supervise and assist the student delivery activity. Traffic Safety Council members assist in the on-site implementation of the program working closely with school staff following up frequently at each location to ensure success.
At St. Veronica student safety is our number one concern. We value and appreciate your cooperation in this important matter. Respecting the direction of staff is imperative and we kindly ask you to ensure you are following it.
Congratulations to the St. Veronica Cross Country team for another successful season of running! This fall, St. Veronica had 39 students participate in the MBC family meet at
Chinguacousy Park in Brampton on October 16 th . All of our runners who are grades 4 to 8 ran with determination and set a great example of what it means to be a team player! Your coaches (Mrs. Northover, Mrs. K, Mme. Bozzo and Mrs. Johnson) are very proud of you!
We would like to wish our runners who qualified for boards on October 26 th at Centennial Park the best of luck! Those runners are Winston. M, Lucas. C, Kyle. D, Janique. J, Jessica. F and Nikita. A. Go Vipers! A big thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to help supervise the meet! You are much appreciated!
Hot off the press! Special shout out to Lucas C from coming in 2nd place in the entire board for Gr 6 Boys.
On Wednesday, October 14 th St. Veronica hosted the Pod Tournament for Junior Boy’s Volleyball. The St. Veronica team worked hard all day and managed to place first for our pod when the tournament was completed.
Then on Tuesday, October 20 th the team travelled to St. Gertrude to participate in the Family Tournament. After a very slow start the boys gradually improved throughout the day and ended up playing some amazing volleyball to clinch the gold medal and another banner for St. Veronica. Mr. LeClair and Mrs. Moroney are so proud of how well the boys rallied and kept their spirits high to win a very tough semi-final match against St. Barbara. The match went to the final set with the score being 14-14 and the boys won the last point with a fantastic rally that had the coaches holding their breaths.
The team was very excited to then move on to the Board Tournament on Wednesday, October 21 st at
Father Michael Goetz Secondary School. After the round robin competition the team ended up second in their pool advancing them to the semi-finals against St. Francis Xavier. The motivated St. Veronica
Team played their hearts out and won to move on to the final game against St. Timothy. The boys split the first 2 games and went into the third and deciding game. It was a close fought battle with
St. Veronica coming up just a little short in a 15-12 loss. What an unbelievable season for our junior boys who were the second best of all 123 schools in our whole board.
Congratulations for a fantastic season go to: Kyle, Lucas, Paolo, Vidush, Winston, Ochuko, Anthony, Rad and Ethan. Much thanks to coaches: Mrs. Moroney, Mr. LeClair and Julia for all their hard work and dedication. Go Vipers!
