CLASS LEADERSHIP
Much the same as we Alumni remember, classes elect officers so that various project and organizational details get accomplished.
While each student in the class exhibits leadership qualities (after all, these are emerging healthcare executives and leaders),
officers for each class take on additional duties for the smooth running of various details. Officers for the Class of 2013, or our
second-year students, have been very busy and involved since they were elected last fall. The Class of 2014, our first-year class,
recently held elections. I’d like to introduce these officers now and thank them for their willingness to be more involved for the
benefit of their classmates in particular and for our HSA Department in general:
Class of 2013 Officers: (from left) Marc Roderick and Nicole
DiLabbio, Service Co-Chairs; Chelsea Bramel, Treasurer;
Steve Jesse, President. Steve Wolery and Sachi Sunamoto
also serve as Co-Chairs of the HASPS (Health Administration
Student Professional Societies).
Class of 2014 Officers: (from left) Ashley Distler, President;
Al Green, Treasurer; Andrea Manis and Chelsea Holland,
Service Co-Chairpersons. The HASPS Chair will be selected
later.
DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE
Our HSA Department held an Open House on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. The event was organized and chaired by our
recruitment and promotions coordinator, Amy Hellkamp. There were 17 prospective students in attendance for the
presentation at 5:00 PM and most stayed for adjunct faculty member, Dr. Richard Schuster’s “Healthcare Legal Aspects” class
that followed. Panel participants were: Rebecca Bruning, Class of 2012 and current administrative resident; Marc Roderick,
Class of 2013; Alexander Green, Class of 2014; and Laura Fox, part-time student in the Class of 2014. I offered a few
remarks about the scholar-practitioner focus of our MHSA degree.
ALUMNI DIRECTORY
Our last HSA Alumni Directory was published in 1997 and we’ve had numerous requests to provide a current one. Thanks to the
leadership of Barry Cesafsky, MHA ’80, an updated Directory is in process. This month Alumni will be contacted to make sure
our database has accurate information for each alum. The goal is to distribute copies at ACHE Congress in March 2012. Be
assured that the information will only be used by Xavier/by Alumni. Such a Directory is consistent with our program tradition of
maintaining and fostering a life-long HSA learning and networking community.
