Springton Lake Middle School Student/Parent/Teacher Agreement Mrs. Snyder- 7th Grade Language Arts Email- msnyder@rtmsd.org Voicemail- (610) 627-6733 Hello and welcome back to “The Lake.” You are now an official member of the 7-2 team, and we have an exciting time of learning ahead of us. Here is some important information to help start off the year smoothly. Materials: All students are expected to come to class each day with the necessary materials (pencils or pens, erasers, notebooks, assignment book, and homework). All students must have 1 one-subject spiral notebook and 2 two-pocket folders, which they will keep throughout the school year. Students should also bring in an inexpensive pair of ear buds to leave in the classroom. I also ask for each student to donate one of the following at the beginning of the school year, if your budget allows: disinfecting wipes, tissues, OR post-its. Homework: Homework will be assigned throughout the school year. Reading logs will be completed on a daily basis and due every Friday. All students are expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes per night for a total of 80 minutes per week. Study Island will be assigned on a weekly basis and due every Monday. Absence: If the student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to find out what was missed. Classwork and homework assignments must be made up; students have two days for every day they are absent to make up work upon their return to school. If a student is absent on a scheduled test day, he/she should plan to take the test the day he/she returns to school. Mrs. Snyder’s Website: My website will be updated regularly; students should check if they are unsure of an assignment or are absent from school. Students are also encouraged to call a peer to find out what they missed. Assessment: Grades are based on total points (# points earned/total possible points). Students will be assessed using a variety of methods, including classwork, homework, quizzes, tests, and a monthly Literary Text Analysis. The point value will be determined for each individual assignment. Assignments may be completed individually, with partners, or in groups, depending upon the material covered in class. Home Access Center (HAC): Students are expected to check HAC on a weekly basis. If there is a discrepancy or question about a grade, see me immediately, so we can remedy the situation. Student Responsibilities: In addition to completing all assignments, students are expected to follow all guidelines outlined by the Rose Tree Media School District and Springton Lake Middle School. This includes maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all learners. Our goals and expectations for our classroom are as follows: Be Respectful Of yourself, your teacher, and your classmates Of your classroom and your school Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself Listen carefully while others are speaking Be Responsible Report to class on time Turn in assignments on time Study for tests and quizzes Be prepared for class each day Be an active participant in class Make up work when you are absent Frequently check HAC and Mrs. Snyder’s website Follow Directions Stay in your assigned area Do what is expected of you Follow all school and district rules and procedures I am looking forward to getting to know each of you, as well as your parents, and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a great year.
