form; the principles of rhythm, size, proportion and composition; and the expressive qualities
of symbol and story.
• Understand concepts of symmetrical and asymmetrical balance.
• Identify and describe figure ground relationships in artwork.
• Recognize various artists and artworks.
• Recognize specific artists and their styles.
• Identify meaning and story telling in art.
Understand how elements and principles combine within an art form to express ideas.
• Describe the relationship between the elements and principles within their own artwork to
create ideas.
Through creating and performing, understand how works of art are

Describe the relationships among media, tools/technology and processes.
• Choose the correct tools to apply specific media to a given surface
Understand the artistic processes of printmaking, weaving, photography and sculpture.
• Understanding the artistic process of sculpture
Demonstrate knowledge and skills to create works of visual art using problem solving,
observing, designing, sketching and constructing.
• Create artwork demonstrating knowledge and skills in Ceramics, painting, collage,
printmaking and drawing.
