Know the language of the arts.
The student will be able to…
Identify the elements of line, shape, space, color and texture; the principles of repetition and
pattern; and the expressive qualities of mood, emotion and pictorial representation.
• Identify specific principles of art: pattern and repetition.
• Recognize primary and secondary colors.
• Label dimensions of 2-D and 3-D artworks.
• Identify ways in which various artists use elements and principles within their art.
• Identify mood or emotion shown in the artwork
Identify similarities in and among the arts (e.g., pattern, sequence and mood).
• Understand relationships between pattern and rhythm throughout the arts.
Through creating and performing, understand how works of art are

Identify media and tools and how to use them in a safe and responsible manner when
painting, drawing and constructing.
• Demonstrate eye/hand coordination when using tools and materials to create and artwork.

communication, celebrations, occupations and recreation.
