PROCEDURE FOR COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS
Rule 69I-21.003, Procedure for Collection of Delinquent Accounts, Florida Administrative Code,
has been amended to better incorporate requirements related to assignment of claims for
collection pursuant to Section 17.20, Florida Statutes (F.S.). The amendment includes the
following:



Additional information related to due diligence that each agency is required to exercise in
securing full payment of all accounts and claims due to the state.
Requirement of assigning accounts to a debt collection agent no later than 120 days after
the original due date of the accounts and the responsibility related to monitoring
collection activities.
Updated debt collection referral form (Form DFS-A1-1829, available at:
http://www.myfloridacfo.com/Division/AA/Forms/default.htm under “Financial
Reporting”).
The amended rule became effective August 13, 2014 and should be read in conjunction with
Section 17.20, F.S.
