JOURNALISM – News Broadcast STAFF MEETING DIRECTIONS FOR TODAY: 1) As a class, arrange your desks in a circle. Discuss what ELEVEN stories you will use in the newscast. 2) Each student must take an assignment. 3) After all ELEVEN stories have been assigned, you should separate and begin drafting the story. *** Next Tuesday, we will decide on the 11 production roles. STORY DEVELOPMENT: 1) What is your lead? Your lead should be about 2 interesting sentences to introduce the story and hook your audience. 2) What are the Ws? WHAT is it? WHEN did it occur? WHO was involved? WHY did it take place? WHERE was it? 3) Explain things such as REACTIONS to the event, EFFECTS of the event, the ATMOSPHERE surrounding the event. 4) Your story, when read aloud, should be a maximum of 30-45 seconds long. When you have finished your story, read it aloud and put it to the test. VIDEO/ AUDIO: We will do our best to find video of your events. But regardless of that, make a list of what you would need for your story in addition to the script? VIDEO?? AUDIO?? INTERVIEWS?
