And Native American Poetry gave students a glimpse into the relationship between Native Americans and the natural word. Math (continued) Block 3/4: After reviewing for and completing the Unit 4 assessment, the students moved into our first chapter of geometry. The students learned about lines, line segments, rays, and angles (acute, obtuse, straight, and right). Ask the students to show you examples of the different kinds of angles with their arm! We then focused on classifying triangles by the size of their angles. Reminder: Students can continue using their Moby Max accounts at home to help build their math fact fluency. Math By: Mrs. Patel Block 1: The students built their problem solving skil s using decimals and money notation. After a review of lessons 9.1-9.5, the students completed a mid-chapter quiz. At the end of the week, we focused on adding fractions with denominators of 10 and 100. The students can expect a Unit 4 (chapters 8 and 9) test on Wednesday, May 11 th. Block 2: This week the students continued to add to their geometry vocabulary. The students learned about parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines. We also focused on naming and classifying quadrilaterals and determining whether figures have a line of symmetry. The students had the opportunity to dig deeper with their problem solving skil s to work through multi-step problems. We ended the week with a mid-chapter quiz. Block 2 can expect a chapter 10 test on Thursday, May 12th. Science & S.S. By: Mrs. Lahneman 1We ended our Science unit with a game review and test earlier this week, and jumped right into Social Studies and Pennsylvania Government. We are looking to sharpen our background knowledge in honor of our upcoming trip to the state capital in Harrisburg. We are so excited to be learning about our great state once again!
